Finding the joy in the mundane lately, this one brought us so much joy 😂💀

It’s been a scary few weeks after we were referred to a neurologist and they suspected a brain or possible spine injury, all signs were pointing to cerebral palsy. Delayed walking (19 months) stiff leg, low muscle tone…But everything came back CLEAR 😭 I’ve never been so scared. Thank you for all the prayers and concerns for this miracle boy, we have felt them every single day.

If I have to cry all week, you guys have to, too. 😭 “Why move if it makes you sad?” Because this was never truly home for us. A little backstory—Dylan and I are both originally from Oregon. After college, we moved to Texas because Dylan joined the military. Since then, life has taken us to Texas, Louisiana, Missouri… and the plan was always for Dylan to do 20 years and retire. But after having kids, we started to reevaluate. It didn’t take long to realize the military life wasn’t something we wanted forever. We just wanted to be together as much as possible, with each other and with our kids. Earlier this year, after 12 years of service, Dylan finished his commitment. For the first time, we got to choose where we wanted to live. Eight years ago, I visited Tennessee for the first time and fell in love. I told Dylan back then, “That’s where I want to live someday.” He wasn’t convinced—because he hadn’t seen it yet. But a few years ago, he went for the first time, and he fell in love, too. Tennessee feels like Oregon to us—but somehow, better. It’s also where my biological family is originally from, so maybe that’s part of why I feel so drawn there. Long story short, Missouri was never supposed to be “home.” It was a temporary duty station, and we always knew that. What we didn’t expect was to meet such amazing people and build a community that feels impossible to replace.
