Last hugs for the festive season ❤️‍🩹 Harry had his radiation treatment this morning and so we start the isolation period until he is not radioactive anymore. It’s a very strange feeling not being able to hug your children especially when they are going through illness. The festive season makes it even harder. I’ve cancelled all our festive plans and events, meeting up with friends. However I’ve got some really fun ideas for what we can do at home to keep his spirits up. Harry’s Road to recovery ❤️‍🩹 Today was 8 hours in hospital with multiple scans, tests and ecgs getting ready for next week. First up thank you everyone who has supported Harry’s journey over the past few months, your kindness here has been both overwhelming and the most encouraging. 💕 Next week Harry will start his radiation treatment. Because he’s had bad reactions to the medication he was on to treat the autoimmune Graves’ disease, this has all happened very quickly and we were a little lost about what was going on today. We had no idea that Harry will not be allowed any human contact within 2-3 meters for weeks following the treatments. His thyroid is quite out of control right now so we’ve been prepared for multiple sessions. No hugs brings back those memories from lock down, it’s always hard but in the festive season it seems too unnatural. However we know that this is what he needs to get back to being healthy and strong again. It’s been a hard week for Harry’s road to recovery ❤️Harrison’s health update… FIRST: My thoughts are with all those going through a chronic illnesses and to your families who stand by and have to watch. Big loves, hugs and support from us to you xx This a little behind the scenes of what we normally share, every family has something they are dealing with and we are no different. for everyone new Harry got really sick all cumulating on his birthday this year where I had to rush him to a&e thinking he was having a heart attack. We got brilliant care. On arriving and the emergency department there was no waiting they took one look at him and within a minute they had hooked him up to an ecg machine to monitor his heart. They could see the problem, within a few hours when the tests came back showing his thyroid levels were at a 98 when should be around a 12… they started treatment that day. Every fortnight we go to a clinic to get checked up. The last few weeks we’ve noticed harry declining. And last Thursday, we went to the hospital where they confirmed he was now rejecting the medication, having adverse reactions and would have to swap to what is a more dangerous medication- dangerous because of the side effects. Within a few days we knew he was reacting badly so back we went and now the only option appears to be the more radical approach which is to essentially get rid of his thyroid altogether. This will then have him on medication for life but a safer medication to take. Again, My thoughts are with all those going through a chronic illnesses and to your families who stand by and have to watch.
