Day 1 has been quite eventful! The spiciness is already fading fast❤️

Replying to @Melissa Price It’s been bittersweet without Bonzo, and was just as bittersweet to go back home for the anniversary of my mom’s passing. Yet I can’t express how happy I am that I got to spend time with the people (and animals!) I love there❤️

WHAT I DO IF I FIND A LOST/STRAY DOG: -Safely capture the pup! Remember you don’t know if this animal has any diseases, so go slow and make sure to keep yourself protected. Getting bit puts you and the dog at risk. -Get the pup to safety. KEEP OTHER ANIMALS SEPARATED. You don’t know this pup’s behavior, medical history, etc. Don’t risk spreading diseases, fleas, and so forth to your own animals. -Provide water. In some cases, provide food. If the dog is extremely skinny you need to be very careful about how much food you give them, as giving them a lot quickly can do more harm than good. -Scan the microchip. Most vet clinics can help you with this, and so can a lot of rescues and shelters. If you don’t want to house the animal or you can’t house the animal, then take them to a local shelter and inform them of where you found the animal. Ensure you’re using the closest city shelter to the location of where you found the animal. -If the chip is registered, yay! You’ll likely be able to reunite the pup with their owner. If not, search Facebook groups, Nextdoor, pawboost, etc. You can also post “found dog” signs in the area where you located the animal. I like to keep a small detail hidden from the public (like what color collar they had on, a marking on their fur that’s unique, etc) to help confirm that the owner is really the owner when I get in contact with them. This especially applies to highly sought after breeds or unaltered dogs. WHAT CAN YOU DO AS A PET OWNER TO KEEP YOUR PET SAFE? -Make sure your microchip is registered and up to date. Often animals will have a chip, but no current information on it, making it useless. -Keep tags with your phone number on their collar, or purchase a collar with your number embroidered into the band. -The minute your pup is lost, post online so people can keep an eye out! -Spay/neuter your pet. It makes them significantly less valuable to people with bad intentions, which means people are far less likely to steal your pup or keep them if they find them. It also helps to keep our dog/cat populations in check! I’m so happy Rose safely found her way back home!🐾

Having a senior dog is hard, but so worth it! His days tend to change depending on whatever he seems to need or want that day. All in all, I’d say this was a great day for him!❤️
