Who's getting braces on in 2025?! 🦷 . .. ... Early on in braces, the initial wires we use are very thin and flexible. This is done purposely so the teeth can align and the wire can fit snugly into the bracket. So we usually place single braces ties initially to hold the wire into the brace. Eventually, after the teeth have aligned we can place the colored ties that connect the braces, or a powerchain. The powerchain is most commonly used to close spaces or prevent new ones from opening up. They can be used for other things as well, but that's for the orthodontist to decide! So initially, when we want to create space, powerchains work against us and can actually prevent the teeth from aligning and even make the crowding worse. So definitely don't remove your own ties and place powerchains on yourself! Always ask your orthodontist if you have any questions about your treatment! . .. ... #braces #bracescolors #braceface #foryoupage
