New home project loading...thankfully it's a small one. I am often asked what my creative process is for coming up with project ideas: 1. I think it's living in the space for a long time, seeing how it functions/how I need it to function and a lottttt of trial and error in experimenting with different set ups. 2. @pinterest! I save pretty much any image I like & organize them into folders. When one of my spaces isn't feeling right, or functioning in the way I want it to, I go back to those folders to look for commanalities. In the case of my butler's pantry, storage is what l'm lacking- who isn't in an NYC apartment-and I have a big empty wall (aka preciois real estate!) going to waste. Looking at my saved images, I paid attention to what I was liking about those rooms. Apart from the utility of having storage on multiple walls, I liked the cozy, closed in feel those rooms give. I think enveloping my space like that will take it from feeling more like a hallway to an actual butler's pantry, so l'm excited for its next iteration. Of course, it's a narrow space and still a walkway, so not doing anything too crazy! #butlerspantry #pantry #kitchendesign #nycapartments #interiordesign

The previous owners left it for us, I believe it belonged to the owners before them. The sweetest little sketch of the sweetest little house that’s now mine!!

May have taken me my entire life but finally found the best solution for this space! It's a narrow walkway, so we couldn't add shelves all the way down the wall as you'd probably run into them when walking by. I found this tour I filmed back in 2020 (exactly 5 years ago almost to the day!) and WOW I am in awe. I added the current photos so you can see side by side how much has changed! It's amazing to see how much work l've done since then, but I think the best part is hearing how I talked about how things "originally would have been" or how they "should be" not knowing that one day l'd be able the bring apartment back to its intended condition! Never in a million years would Hattie from 2020 think she did away with that closet, restored that swinging door into a passageway and replaced that bulletin board with custom glass. She would have NEVER believed you if you told her that dark & tiny kitchen would one day actually be a deVOL kitchen and she'd be mindblown to hear that 5 years later she's still working on restorations and not quite done!! I knew I did really good when showed Sebastian the original video from 2020 and he was like "wait what is this, your neighbor's apartment upstairs?"
